Narrative for humans
Cooperative
Money. Not the end — the means. But a means that must be governed, otherwise it governs you.
A threshold
One hundred and eighty thousand euros gross per year. Above that threshold, what comes in is no longer yours: it is the mission's.
Not a limit on freedom. The condition for freedom not to become power. Money, left to flow without banks, corrupts — even those who start with the best intentions. Especially them.
How decisions are made
Three rules:
- The threshold is personal, not collective. It concerns who works in the Order, not who joins as user.
- Donations do not buy the threshold. If you donate money for a specific project, it goes there. It does not lower your personal need.
- Sponsors are transparent. Commercial visibility is possible, but declared. Never implicit endorsement.
An alarm
If too much comes in one month — more than necessary for survival or 8% of the annual cap — an alarm sounds. The Sinodo decides what to do. Not automation: attention.
Another care
Exhaustion, not greed, is the most serious risk. Hence three alarm thresholds: four continuous hours of work, twelve hours in one day, twelve hours for three days in a row. At the last one, someone should ask: "are you destroying yourself?".
The first weak point is not money. It is you.
